Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration Arrives September 16 — Everything Collectors Need to Know
Pokémon is marking three decades of the Trading Card Game with a worldwide release featuring an all-foil card pool, returning classics, special anniversary products and a brand-new rarity.
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is preparing for one of its biggest milestones yet. Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration is scheduled to launch worldwide on September 16, 2026, celebrating 30 years of Pokémon cards with a special expansion designed for collectors and longtime fans.
According to The Pokémon Company, the expansion will mark the first time a Pokémon TCG set launches simultaneously around the world, giving collectors in multiple regions access to the set at the same time.
- Release date: September 16, 2026
- Series: Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration
- Release: Simultaneous worldwide launch
- Special feature: Every card will be foil
- New addition: A brand-new rarity
- Theme: 30 years of Pokémon TCG history
A Worldwide Release Unlike Previous Pokémon Sets
Pokémon expansions have traditionally reached different markets on different schedules. That changes with 30th Celebration.
The Pokémon Company says the anniversary expansion will be the first Pokémon TCG release to arrive simultaneously worldwide. For collectors, that could create an unusually intense opening week as players, collectors and resellers across multiple countries begin searching for the same cards at the same time.
“Thirty years of Pokémon TCG history are being brought together in a set designed around both nostalgia and new collectibles.”
Every Card Will Be Foil
One of the most unusual features of 30th Celebration is that every card in the expansion will be foil. That includes Basic Energy cards, which are normally among the most common cards found in Pokémon TCG products.
This gives even ordinary pulls a premium anniversary appearance and could make complete-set collecting especially appealing.
Classic Cards Are Returning
Pokémon has also confirmed that familiar cards from the game’s long history will return as part of the anniversary celebration.
That approach mirrors what made earlier anniversary releases popular: combining nostalgia with modern printing, artwork and collectible treatments.
For longtime collectors, cards inspired by earlier eras could become some of the most sought-after pieces in the set—especially if iconic Pokémon receive special treatments.
A Brand-New Rarity Is Coming
The Pokémon Company has confirmed that 30th Celebration will introduce a new card rarity, although full details surrounding the rarity and its pull rates have not yet been disclosed.
New rarities often become a major focus for collectors because they can determine which cards emerge as the chase cards of an expansion.
Pokémon has not yet revealed every card, complete pull rates, or the final market value of individual cards. Collector demand and secondary-market prices will become much clearer after the September 16 release.
30th Celebration Products
The anniversary expansion will be available through several special products rather than relying only on traditional booster displays.
Pokémon has already announced products including the 30th Celebration Binder Collection, which includes a nine-pocket anniversary binder and five booster packs, along with additional collections and commemorative products scheduled for September.
Other announced products include a Poster Collection and a Knock Out Collection, giving collectors several ways to obtain booster packs from the anniversary set.
Which Cards Could Become the Biggest Chase Cards?
Before the full card list and pull rates are known, it is impossible to say which cards will command the highest prices.
However, anniversary sets historically draw especially strong attention toward iconic Pokémon, nostalgic artwork, difficult-to-pull cards and special rarities.
Pikachu is already being heavily featured in Pokémon’s promotion of 30th Celebration, making Pikachu cards an obvious area for collectors to watch once packs begin opening worldwide.
Should Collectors Buy Immediately or Wait?
New Pokémon releases often experience significant price volatility during their first days on the market.
Highly anticipated cards can initially sell for elevated prices before additional supply enters the market. At the same time, truly scarce chase cards can remain expensive or even appreciate if collector demand stays strong.
Buyers interested mainly in opening packs may want to focus on products available near suggested retail pricing rather than paying extreme launch-week premiums.
Collectors targeting specific singles may benefit from watching prices after the first wave of pack openings reveals supply, pull rates and actual demand.
OnelROR News will continue tracking Pokémon TCG: 30th Celebration as additional cards, product availability, pull rates and secondary-market prices become available after launch.
Why the 30th Anniversary Matters
The Pokémon Trading Card Game debuted in Japan in 1996 and has since grown into one of the world’s most recognizable collectible card games.
Three decades later, Pokémon cards remain both a competitive game and a major collectibles market. The 30th Celebration expansion brings those two sides of the hobby together: nostalgia for longtime fans and new chase cards for today’s collectors.
With a worldwide launch, an entirely foil card pool and a new rarity, September 16 could become one of the busiest Pokémon TCG release days of 2026.
